Acne is a very common skin condition that causes pimples. You’ll usually get pimples on your face. Clogged pores cause acne. Teenagers and young adults most often get acne, but it can also occur during adulthood for many people. Treatment is available to clear acne from your skin and prevent scarring.
What causes acne?
1. Inadequate cleaning
Many people only wash their faces with water, or with ordinary facial cleanser. Then they apply lotion, cream, makeup, etc. on their faces. In addition, there are some bacteria and mites naturally live on your skin. Your kin is also exposed to dust, pollen, air pollutants, etc. This can easily lead to inadequate cleaning and clogged pores. Resulting in enlarged pores, blackheads, acne, and pimples.
2. Hormonal level
Teenage acne is thought to be triggered by increased levels of a hormone called testosterone, which occurs during puberty. The hormone plays an important role in stimulating the growth and development of the penis and testicles in boys, and maintaining muscle and bone strength in girls.
The sebaceous glands are particularly sensitive to hormones. It’s thought that increased levels of testosterone cause the glands to produce much more sebum than the skin needs.
3. Life style
Emotional tension, stress and staying up late may lead to increased hormone, stimulating the glands to produce excessive sebum.
For people who love fitness, some sports equipments or clothing keep rubbing the skin which irritates the skin and cause acne. Therefore, it is recommended to wear clean, loose clothes when exercising, and wash them regularly. If you use shared fitness equipments, properly clean them before use.
4. Acne in families
Acne can run in families. If your parents had acne, it’s likely that you’ll also develop it.
